Series: Spirits
1. Worldview
I see the world from within a frame; the perspective that I take determines what I see and the conclusions that I make
Reality is mind and matter, together but distinct
My perspective on you determines the you that I see: biological machine -or- a person who lives in a world of meaning
A worldview is faith; it can lead a rational believer into all manner of silliness; witness how we use the idea of natural selection
A conscious mind brings time into the universe, and the purposes of that mind determine the nature of time
The individual steps forth from his category and confronts me as Thou, beyond category
7. Numbers
Numbers and quantities are the modern perspective on the world, the world of It; accurate numbers give power
We live with mind and matter, Thou and It, and both aspects of reality are true
9. Charlatans
An artist’s responsibility is to communicate with an audience in a meaningful way, and the artist who rejects his responsibility is a charlatan
